The Nation’s First Degree-Granting HBCU has a ‘Game Plan’ to Learn, Liberate and Lead

This fall, Lincoln University renewed its partnership with Game Plan to support their athletics initiatives to best prepare Lion athletes to Learn, Liberate and Lead.

To help enhance the student-athlete experience, Lincoln Athletics will engage its student-athletes with courses provided through the Game Plan platform including curriculum on personal and professional development, financial literacy, mental health, and much more.

“Game Plan has helped us tremendously through providing online programming to educate our student-athletes in areas of career, financial literacy, personal development, and social awareness,” said Keith Merritt II, Student Athlete Support Services Assistant Athletic Director, in a released statement.

The courses are strategically deployed by class year to meet students where they are and enhance their skill sets for their unique development journey on the small but tight-knit campus, which is energized by a vibrant social life, a robust Greek culture, and a one-of-a-kind Homecoming celebration.

“We re-signed with Game Plan to continue the holistic growth of our student-athletes, staff, and coaches towards the University mission of Learn, Liberate and Lead,” said Merritt.

With the continuously changing landscape of college athletics, it is important to make sure the student-athletes are educated as well as prepared for all that’s to come within their daily lives in and out of sport.

Lincoln has also added Game Plan’s branded solution, which will provide them the opportunity to create a unique career marketplace for their student-athletes as well as launch a mentorship program to engage their student-athletes and alumni.

Through these tools offered on Game Plan, Lincoln Athletics will be able to continue the development of their student-athletes, staff, and coaches.

“Game Plan has been a huge asset to our department and the development of our student athletes,” said Interim Director of Athletics & Recreational Services and Head Football Coach, Joshua Dean.

The Lincoln University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics considers athletics to be an integral part of the University community and thus follows and honors Lincoln University’s overall educational values and mission.
